My name is Jeannette Cybèle Angel
I am deeply interested in bringing the arts into sustainability through creative, and embodied design practices. I am a creative writer, mother, gardener; a designer of intimate scale change.
This preoccupation with sustainable, embodied change has grown out of my engagement in creative process, formal dance training, performance art and other body-based practices including yoga and insight meditation. These practices are complemented by ongoing scholarly encounters with what it means to be human in a complex world.
Professionally, I have worked as an artist-researcher in social and environmental sustainability design, offering services as a bilingual (English/French) community facilitator, engagement coordinator and experience designer.
My PhD research involved the development of a methodology and model for engaging people in creative experiential learning. Using the model, I facilitated collaborative design processes with people from educational, civic and non-profit sectors.
I have innovated methods for participants to share cross-cultural knowledge, engage in place-based experiences, communicate through artistic forms, and transmit their learning inter-generationally.
I live with my family in Kelowna, British Columbia, on the unceded territories of the Syilx/Okanagan people.
